About This Chapter

Chapter’s overview

This chapter focuses on the data preprocessing steps and how to perform them. We'll go through the preprocessing process in more detail and use examples. The labs will also provide a step-by-step introduction to performing preprocessing steps effectively. Completing these labs and following the examples will give us a clearer picture of how the steps in the process are conducted and applied and their utility within the analysis process. We'll follow the labs through the materials provided online. This chapter includes the following three labs:

• Lab 1: This lab focuses on data types in R.

• Lab 2: This lab focuses on how to parse a text file within R to get a data representation that can be used for analysis.

• Lab 3: This lab focuses on checking types of data upon import.
