Introduction to the pollination data
Let’s begin with a linear model analysis where the aim is to compare the effects of different treatments. Each treatment is applied to a group of experimental units. If these treatments are effective, then they will produce differences between the groups. We design experiments to test hypotheses about the effects of the treatments and quantify the strength of these effects. This chapter focuses on describing the treatment effects. This is a step that’s often skipped in an attempt to rush to the results. We’ll save the testing for later.
