Summary: Traditional Bits in New Clothing

Let’s summarize what we learned in this chapter.

This chapter has introduced three state representations which we will be using throughout the remainder of this course. This summary can serve as a quick reference guide to that notation.

  • In classical computing, the “state” of a wire can be at a low or a high voltage, and these states can be represented by state vectors Vlow\ket{V_{low}} and VhighV_{high}. In quantum computing, we will see a similar use of states.
