Course overview
API development skills are in high demand. APIs—short for application programming interfaces—are important because they enable software developers to connect and integrate various programs. They act as bridges between different programs and systems, allowing them to communicate and collaborate to achieve specific goals.
Go is used to create a backend for a web or mobile application. In this course, we’ll go over the steps for building REST API applications with Go and MongoDB. Then we’ll develop a set of APIs to support a movie review application. While developing this application, we’ll do the following:
- Gain a thorough understanding of the fundamentals and advanced concepts of Go
- Come to understand how REST APIs work and how they should be structured/designed
- Gain familiarity with the operations of NoSQL databases, schemas, and collections
- Learn how to use auth and JSON web encryption to secure API access
- Integrate modern databases into our application
- Learn how to perform CRUD operations on data
- Learn how to deploy Go applications to a server and make them accessible
Tip: We recommend practicing your skills every day because it helps you understand better—and, as they say, practice makes perfect!
