Cost Categories

Cost Categories let us intelligently map service costs and charges into more logical groupings for our organization or scenario. Once Cost Categories are set up, we can use them in several existing AWS billing tools.

Cost Categories are more flexible than just plain tagging—they are rules-based, meaning they can use logical operations like is, is not, starts with, and so on. We can use an account number, AWS service, charge type, another cost category, or a tag key to dynamically define our cost categories. With cost categories, we can view our AWS charges in many ways, not necessarily just as how our AWS Organizations are arranged.
