Hands-on Vue.js: Build a fully functional SPA

Similar to other front-end frameworks, Vue.js implements the **Virtual DOM**. It may sound intimidating at first but its main purpose is to increase the performance and efficiency of the Document Object Model (DOM) _updates_. Moreover, DOM offers some additional features as well.

# What is DOM?
When a web browser parses an HTML page, it creates a _tree-like_ data structure that represents the HTML page. A webpage consists of elements that have sub-elements and so on. Think of DOM as a data structure that stores the displayed webpage in the computer’s memory.


The browser reads the DOM and displays the webpage accordingly. To make changes in the webpage, change the DOM and the browser will re-render the webpage reflecting the changes. In response to the user's actions (e.g., mouse click), the scripting language (JavaScript) updates the DOM through its **APIs** such as `document.createElement`.
