In this course, we'll use the Self-Service APIs since they are free.
Amadeus Self-Service APIs
The Amadeus Self-Service APIs are a group of travel APIs that encompass the entire travel lifecycle, from brainstorming for the destination to booking flights and hotels, to finding in-destination activities. These APIs provide endpoints that enable us to perform all travel-related functionalities and operations conveniently and efficiently. The Amadeus Self-Service APIs catalog provides the following APIs:
Air APIs allow us to perform several flight-related operations, including searching for and booking the best flight packages from more than 400 airlines across the globe. Moreover, we can also search for flights across multiple cities. The Air APIs provide useful APIs that allow us to purchase flight tickets and manage our reservations in addition to searching for airports, airline codes, and more.
Hotel APIs help us find the perfect stay from the over 150,000 hotels worldwide listed on the Amadeus Global Distribution System (GDS). We can search and compare hotel deals from over 350 of the world’s top hotel chains. They provide detailed information that makes it easier for us to choose the perfect stay during our trips.
Destination Content APIs cover an essential part of the travel lifecycle. They enable us to explore the in-destination content of a location by providing us with famous tourist attractions and must-do activities. We can use these APIs to gain information about our destination and plan our trip accordingly.
Trip APIs are a group of important utility APIs that provide several trip planning functionalities, such as travel recommendations and trip purpose prediction. We can use these APIs to plan, purchase, and enjoy our trip to the fullest. These APIs provide functionalities to help us gain a better experience throughout our trips.
Moreover, the data provided by these APIs allow stakeholders, such as travel agents, to delve into the travelers’ motivations, allowing them to create customized itineraries that add a personalized feel for the customers, resulting in a better user experience.
