Configuring an IP Address on a Router
Learn to configure an IP address on a router.
We'll cover the following
Router configuration
Now, let’s configure an IP address on a Cisco router. A router interconnects multiple networks through ports. For this course, a port is a physical place where a cable can be plugged. The name that we assign to the logical part of a port is an interface.
So, to sum things up:
- Port = Physical
- Interface = Logical
We’ll set an IP (logical) address on an interface and connect the cable (physically) to a port.
These interfaces must have an IP address configured to communicate within the network, and the interface must be turned on.
