Deno is a simple and secure runtime for JavaScript and TypeScript and it’s on the rise. It has many similarities to Node, but it also has some useful new features such as: security by default, TypeScript by default, ES modules, and improved package management.

If you want to be on the cutting edge of the latest web development technologies then Deno is a good start.

In this mini course, you will first refresh your understanding of TypeScript, as it is extensively used with Deno. You will cover the basic types as well as interfaces and classes.

In the second half of this course, you will learn how to create a CRUD REST API using Deno and Oak. By the end of this course, you can add a great new skill to your resume and you can start experimenting with it in old or new projects.

While, for this course, you'll be running all your code within this platform, it is important to make sure your system also has Deno installed so that you can develop your own applications later on. Visit the official installation [guide](https://deno.land/#installation) to install Deno on your system with an installer of your choice. To verify that you've installed Deno, run `deno --version`. At the time of writing, the current versions stand to be `deno 1.1.3 v8 8.5.216 typescript 3.9.2`.
