This mini-course will kickstart your journey in developing microservices using the Spring Boot framework. 

You will cover the basics of Model-View-Controller (MVC), microservices, Spring Boot, and the configurations needed to develop any microservices or standalone production-grade Spring application.

You will also learn how to integrate with a database, develop a web UI, and how to handle errors. By the end of this mini-course, you will be able to develop your first application using Spring Boot.

In the previous lesson, we built the Spring Boot application. In this lesson, you will learn how to run and access the UI of the application.

# Prerequisites

Depending on the Java version chosen while creating the project, please ensure the same version of Java is installed on your local machine.

We can install Java from any of the following sites:

* For installing **Oracle JDK**, please follow the [link](https://www.oracle.com/in/java/technologies/javase-downloads.html).
* For installing **AdoptOpenJDK**, please follow the [link](https://adoptopenjdk.net/installation.html).

# Running the application

Unzip the download project and extract the contents to a folder.

Once Java is installed, please run the following command to start the application:

**For Linux/Macintosh**
```
cd <extracted-folder>
./gradlew clean build bootRun
```

**For Windows**
```
cd <extracted-folder>
gradlew clean build bootRun
```

For deploying the application onto another web server, we can build the project using the following command and host the `media-app-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.war` that gets generated after building under `build/libs`. 

**For Linux/Macintosh**
```
cd <extracted-folder>
./gradlew clean build
```

**For Windows**
```
cd <extracted-folder>
gradlew clean build
```

By default, the application will run on `8080`, which can be changed using the property `server.port` in `src/main/resources/application.properties`. 
 To access the application UI, open [http://localhost:8080](http://localhost:8080) on any browser.

In this lesson, you will download and run the developed application locally.
