Types of Cloud Computing

Overview

There are different cloud variations, and there is no one-size-fits-all type of cloud computing solution. To determine the kind of solution we need, it’s essential to understand our business requirements so that we can figure out the best way to run and deploy our applications to the cloud.

Types

There are six ways to deploy cloud applications:

• Public cloud
• Private cloud
• Hybrid cloud
• Federal cloud
• Multi-cloud
• Community cloud

The following six subsections cover each cloud computing type:

Public cloud

As the name implies, a public cloud computing model is for everyone. It allows a third-party cloud service provider to make computing resources available to anyone over the Internet. These resources include databases, CPU, storage, virtual machines, and more. The computing resources could be free or billed on a subscription or pay-as-you-go basis. The pricing would usually depend on the service provider and the resource type.
