As we wrap up this course, let’s revisit the essential concepts and skills we’ve covered. We started with an introduction to LLMs, understanding their capabilities and their transformative impact on natural language processing tasks. This foundational knowledge set the stage for delving into vector databases, an indispensable tool for handling the vast amounts of data generated and processed by LLMs.

We explored the necessity of vector databases in efficiently managing and retrieving high-dimensional data. We discussed various types of searches, including ANN search, dense, sparse, and hybrid searches, and how different distance metrics affect similarity search outcomes. We then focused on the Chroma vector database, learning about its structure, functions, and real-world applications. The final section provided a comprehensive guide on generating and storing embeddings in ChromaDB.
