Progressive Web Applications are the state of modern web solutions. With the proper strategies, it is possible to drastically improve the overall performance and providing data even without a network connection. 
In an increasingly mobile-first world, optimising the time to load web pages can be our business's success. 

We will start by describing what PWAs are and their advantages over native and plain web applications. We then go deeper analysing fundamental concepts like service workers, caching strategies and when to use them in different scenarios. 

Aside from generic, framework-agnostic code samples, there will be an entire "hands-on" section dedicated to Angular, where we will create a complete, real-world PWA project from scratch.

Finally, we will learn how to deploy our PWAs to the cloud with different providers, describing in detail the approach with the Firebase platform. Thus, concluding our journey in the PWAs world.

# Course overview

At this point, you should have a solid know-how about progressive web apps and their related technologies. You should be able to describe, without problem, all the advantages and limitations of PWAs, which caching strategies to choose according to specific requirements, and how to implement them using vanilla JavaScript or the Angular framework.

It has been an intense, but interesting learning journey, and I hope you enjoyed the course. Moreover, I hope the course stimulated new questions and curiosity to investigate and learn further about this amazing technology.

 

# Personal thoughts

I enjoyed collecting and creating all the materials for this course. I am a real fan of PWAs, and I strongly believe they still have a lot of potential to further evolve in the next few years.

My beliefs are also confirmed by Google and Firebase’s decisions to constantly expand their support for PWAs and the development of new features for this technology. For example, from version 80, Chrome released its [contact-picker API](https://web.dev/contact-picker/), allowing to select records from a contact list and share a partial set of details within the context of a webs application. This was possible only to native apps. 

The goal is to keep investing in PWAs and fill the functionality gap with the native apps. Only time will tell us whether these efforts will be successful, but from what I have seen, I am quite confident that PWAs will have a bright future ahead.
