AWS Shared Responsibility Model

Learn about the AWS Shared Responsibility Model by examining the responsibilities of AWS and its customers.

Introduction

The AWS Shared Responsibility Model defines our responsibility as customers and that of AWS. The responsibility model states that AWS and its customers are responsible for the security of the cloud.

As a service provider, AWS’s responsibility is to ensure physical and software security for its services. We say that AWS is a secure platform. However, simply deploying our application on AWS doesn’t mean that our application is secure. AWS offers several tools and features to keep our application secure. But ultimately, it’s up to us how we want to secure our application and services.
