How to Create Your AWS Account
Learn how to create a new AWS account.
We'll cover the following
Steps to create an AWS account
Follow the step-by-step instructions below to create an AWS account:
- Go to the AWS website and click the “Create an AWS Account” button in the top right corner of the page.
- On the next page, enter your email address and an account name (optional) and click the "Verify email address” button.
Note: Use a private email address for your account. You’ll use this email address to log in to your AWS account.
- Once you verify your email address, you’ll move to the next page. Enter and confirm the root user password in the input fields and click the "Continue” button. We suggest that you create a secure root account password to avoid malicious use of your account.
- Select the “Personal—for your projects” radio button and enter your details on the page. Click “Continue.”
- Next, you’ll have to enter your credit or debit card details to create the account. Read the message on the left of your screen. AWS might temporarily hold up to US$1 from your account to verify your payment card.
- When you’ve successfully verified your card and billing details, you must confirm your identity by providing a phone number. Fill in the required information, verify your phone number, and move on to the next step.
- Finally, you’ll have to choose the right support plan. Choose the “Basic support” plan; you won’t need any more support from AWS for this course. Click the “Complete sign up” button.
You’ve now successfully created an AWS account. It might take a few minutes to start. Once you receive a confirmation email, you can go to the AWS sign-in page by clicking the “Go to the AWS Management Console” button or head to the AWS sign-in page.
You can now enter your email address and password to log in to your AWS account.
