Microsoft Azure Portal Tour

In this lesson, we will briefly tour the Microsoft Azure portal to familiarize ourselves with its different features.

• Go to https://portal.azure.com.

• Log in with the email and password. If you want to know how to create them, please refer to this lesson.

Note: When we open the Azure portal for the first time to create our free account, we will see something like the figure below. Click the “Start” button under the “Start with an Azure free trial” option.

We will be redirected to the Azure portal, which looks like the figure below:

In the Azure portal, we can see the following options:

1. Our Microsoft Azure portal details
2. Quick access view to our commonly used Microsoft Azure services
3. A list of the Microsoft Azure resources we interacted with recently
4. Quick search menu that enables us to search our existing Azure resources or create a new one

Creating our first Microsoft Azure resource

Let’s create our first Microsoft Azure resource with the help of the following steps:

1. In the Azure portal, click the “Create a resource” button under Azure services.

2. We will be presented with popular Microsoft Azure resources. Let’s create a virtual machine. Under the virtual machine, click the “Create” button.

3. We’ll be prompted to fill in the virtual machine details.

   a. Subscription: Choose the “Azure Subscription 1” option.
