What is Scalability?

The load that an application should tolerate is not always steady.It can vary regularly and can have detrimental effects on any layer of the application. In simple terms, scalability is a quality attribute that describes the ability of an application to increase or decrease its capacity to manage the number of requests that it receives. As a matter of fact, this management should be automatic in such a way that, if the load increases, the capacity of handling that load also increases.
