A Kanban board is the representation of a Virtual Kanban System where the pull signals and work-in-progress are representations of the actual work happening in your team’s computers and the cloud.
The Kanban system comprises a set of policies governing how we intake, deliver, manage, and visualize work.
The pull signal is generated when the current work-in-progress in a column gets below the WIP limit for that column. In addition to the policies, we also recommend that you complement your Kanban board with a visualization of your service levels, team’s objectives, metrics, and performance charts, which you can see on the right-hand side of the picture.
