Management interviews mainly revolve around demonstrating to your interviewers that you’re the best candidate they could hire by talking about your past experience. The key to these interviews is your story bank. They’ve seen your resume and they know your work experience. Now, you must demonstrate to them what a CV cannot: your soft abilities, which must be supported by instances in which you used them successfully. They know you can lead a team, but how do you do it? How do you deal with conflict, failure, or even success?

The story bank

A story bank is essentially a list of 5–10 stories and anecdotes from your own experiences in your professional and personal lives that showcase your abilities in various situations.

You can’t predict the exact questions you’ll be asked, so have a diverse array of stories ready. Some companies specifically like asking for instances from your personal life, so it’s best to have some of those ready at hand as well.

Note: Make sure you remember enough details and are comfortable going in-depth about the stories you pick.
