Build a Successful Developer Brand

 Getting a phone call interview can be thrilling! That means we are one of the 2% of applicants that make it through this stage. From here on out, our task will be to stand out from a smaller pool of applicants. We can generally expect to be at least five other people, but it can still be a dozen or more. 


Here we should:
1. Proving we can do the job. 
2. Stand out from the rest of the applicants.



Remember that a recruiter’s job is to provide qualified applicants. To get through this phase, we’ll need to answer questions about the technologies listed in the job application. This is where taking quizzes on job scales will be helpful, although they might not be as critical for doing the job. Testing out of concepts is a great way for recruiters to thin the herd.
 

It's important to research the company we’ll be working for and read the job description before making that first call. That way, we’ll be able to mention technologies utilized by the company and discuss projects in which we’ve used these technologies.

Have copies of a resume or profile, the job description, and any additional notes on how we’re a good fit for the job on hand. Keep a pen and paper handy to jot down notes during the interview. To ensure that we are comfortable answering questions, practice interviewing with someone.

LinkedIn has a new job preparation feature where users can see frequent interview questions. It is good practice to also write thank-you letters to interviewers. This shows that we are serious about the application process and are willing to go further than the other applicants.
