Setting up an Amazon Developer Account
Let’s learn how to set up the environment for the rest of the course.
We'll cover the following
Sign up for an Amazon developer account
To follow along with the rest of the course, we have to set up an Amazon Developer Account. You can find the exact instructions at https://developer.amazon.com/docs/app-submission/manage-account-and-permissions.html
- Go to https://developer.amazon.com.
- Click “Sign In” in the upper-right corner.
- Click “Create your Amazon Developer” account.
- Complete the requested fields for your name, email, and password, then click “Create your Amazon Developer” account.
- You’ll be prompted to enter a One Time Password (OTP) sent to the email address you provided. If this One Time Password dialog doesn’t appear, your corporate VPN might be blocking the page. Try disconnecting from VPN.
- Go to your email to retrieve the OTP. Enter it into the “Enter OTP” field and click “Create your Amazon account.”
You’re now signed in to the Developer Console and presented with a Developer Registration screen. Fill out the information fields in the “Developer Details” and “Contact Details” sections.
Most of these fields are basic information fields that you can update later as needed. However, note that the “Developer/Company Name” field cannot be edited after clicking “Submit,” except by filing a support case.
-
In the “Amazon Developer Services Agreement” section, click the link to read the agreement and click the “I agree” button. You can always read this legal agreement more carefully here: Amazon Developer Services Agreement. This agreement is required to distribute your app.
-
Click “Submit”. A “Welcome” screen appears with options to customize your interests and opt-in to receive product information and updates.
