In this course, you will use Python’s Pycairo library to draw complex shapes. So if you have an appetite for virtual reality, or game development, then this course will serve you well.

# Artistic color adjustments

There are several operators that adjust color in various ways. The two simplest are the `ADD` and `SATURATE` operators. There are also the 11 blend operators: 



- `MULTIPLY`
- `SCREEN`
- `OVERLAY`
- `DARKEN`
- `LIGHTEN`
- `COLOR_DODGE`


- `COLOR_BURN`
- `HARD_LIGHT`
- `SOFT_LIGHT`
- `DIFFERENCE`
- `EXCLUSION`

We won’t go into detail about all of them. One common shared aspect among them is that they combine the colors of the source and destination to achieve different general effects, such as darkening, lightening, changing contrast, enhancing or diminishing specific colors, and so on.

One use of this is to apply effects to images. In this example, we will use the `COLOR_BURN` function to enhance the orange of our tiger’s body. We can control the degree of enhancement by changing the alpha value of the orange filter. We will use a radial gradient with varying transparency to alter the tiger’s body more than the surrounding image areas. We will also make the effect pronounced so that it is obvious what is going on. In real applications, we might want to apply more subtle effects. It is, simply, a matter of making the gradient more transparent.
