General Ethical Principles in a Nutshell
Let’s recall the general ethical principles we’ve covered.
General ethical principles
In a nutshell, the principles can be summarized in the following points:
Make IT for everyone
Ensure that information technology solutions are inclusive and accessible to all users, regardless of their background or abilities.
Show what you know, learn what you don’t
Demonstrate your existing knowledge and skills, while also being open to continuous learning and improvement in areas where you may be less knowledgeable.
Respect the organization or individual you work for
Treat the organization, its policies, and its individuals with professionalism, courtesy, and integrity. Avoid any actions that may harm their reputation or interests.
Make IT accessible
As a fundamental obligation to the IT profession, it is the responsibility of professionals to design and implement information technology solutions that are easily usable and available to all.
Lastly, we have to understand that the majority of accidents involve a mix of organizational, managerial, technical, and sometimes even social or political factors. To prevent them, we must consider all these causes, not just the immediate event.
