The results for the interaction model in the code below require some clarification. Note that since Africa is the excluded baseline category, the intercept 6.29186 is Africa’s log income per person when all other variables in the model are equal to zero. The coefficient of open, 0.0075237, is the effect of trade for African countries in the sample.
