Introduction to Replication

In this section, we demonstrate how to replicate statistical analyses in the following published article from international relations:

Braithwaite, Alex. 2006. “The Geographic Spread of Militarized Disputes.” Journal of Peace Research 43(5): 507–22.

The purpose of these replication exercises is to accumulate firsthand experience in conducting social science empirical research. Just as we develop better comprehension of the cumulated knowledge of the physical world by replicating previous experiments in physics and chemistry, we can better understand how statistical findings regarding human behaviors came about by reproducing previous data analyses in social sciences.
