Setting up Cloud Accounts - AWS, Azure, GCP

Get introduced to the things in a legitimate sequence, we will require some free accounts in the three major cloud providers that we are going to discuss AWS, GCP, and Azure.

Pre-condition

Before starting the course, a basic understanding of networking is required, such as network storage and data center administration. If you are not aware of the above mentioned concepts, you go through the Grokking Computer Networking for Software Engineers course.

Preface

Cloud accounts serve as a way for a public cloud provider to identify the systems, people, and workloads that use its service. Let us start with setting up our cloud accounts with the three big cloud providers in the industry.

Amazon Web Services free account setup guide

First of all, we’ll go to Amazon Web Services Portal, and then you can go to the pricing followed by the AWS Free Tier. When you are at the AWS Free Tier page, you can click on Create a Free Account, followed by putting in your email address, your password, and an account name that you need to be unique to you.

When you go through this process, you will be required to provide a credit card used to validate your identity and charge you for anything you use that’s not available in the free tier.

It’s important to note that it will allow you to immediately utilise the services that incur charges without your involvement in any upgrades to your account. Therefore, make sure you pay close attention to everything you do in the AWS and only select the items that say free tier.

Along with this, you can do something to protect yourself, and that’s that you can configure budgets so that you know, automatically, if you have accidentally tried to do something that isn’t free.

AWS cost budget setup

You can log in with your credentials into a management console and go to cost management AWS budgets. Here in AWS budgets, you can create a cost usage or savings plan budget and set your cost budget. Make it a monthly budget that is fixed; in the budgeted amount, it’s not allowed to put 0. Still, you can put 0.01. That means don’t ever let me spend more than a penny, followed by setting budget alerts to continue the process so that I can be notified and alerted.

It’s important to set because they don’t require upgrading to use non-free things.
