Public Cloud - AWS, Azure and GCP (Demo)

Get a brief introduction of what the public cloud is all about and what it includes. We will talk about some of the options and examples of cloud service providers and understand their primary management interface.

Introduction

First of all, let us talk about the public cloud and its utilization. Anyone (public consumers) can create an account and begin to use that account to work with that particular service provider. Whichever one we choose, it is Pay as you Go or Pay as you Grow.

Subscription models

The difference between them is as follows :

Pay as you Go means that we pay for it when we want to use something.

Pay as you Grow means we can begin using something, but we can pay more when we need more of that service.

For example, we might start with a virtual machine that is equivalent in power to, say 2 GHz processor. However, a year after, we might need a 3 GHz processor to pay more to have a more powerful processor for our virtual machine. That would be Pay as you Grow, very similar subtle differences between the two.

The examples of these public cloud providers are Amazon AWS, Microsoft’s Azure, and then there is the Google cloud platform or GCP in short.

From a management perspective, let us see what some of these different cloud platforms look like. Now, we are looking here at Azure Portal, the home page of Azure Cloud Service.
