Execution of deployment plan (Demo)

Get introduced to the execution of the deployment plan is constituted of various actions to be taken, and depending on our requirement, we might consider the order of actions to be taken.

Introduction

One of the critical actions to be considered is documentation; the big thing to remember is to do what is documented. So we refer to the documentation, and we follow standard operating procedures. Cloud migration can be a challenging decision to gain buy-in for. It usually has winners and losers. People who lose will often keep trying to change the decision or go for their pound of flesh by waiting for things to go wrong and saying, “I told you so.”. Due diligence and transparency are the best counters.

Process

Every stage of the decision-making process should be communicated, and decisions should be made based on facts. Cloud-first means having a transparent process for selecting business applications by projects and programs. IT governance is essential regardless of whether we follow a cloud-first strategy or not.

In order to overcome this obstacle, several teams that should be collaborating on cloud-first and business application decisions, for example, PMOs, enterprise architects, application managers, and platforms experts, instead work in silos. By using a standard application inventory, they will work together more effectively.

The inventory provides them with information about the applications and the projects they target, the technologies they use, the business capabilities they support, and the organizations to which they are deployed. The impacts of project decisions on the IT landscape can be fully understood and considered with this inventory.

  • The recommendation would be to read the instructions for every piece of hardware and software we are working with and follow them meticulously during installation and operation. Someone went through all that pain we have been talking about so far to do requirements, analysis, and get the correct documentation in place. So please make sure we follow it.

  • If a necessity is not documented, we might need to use change management in this process. We need to gain approval and then schedule that change into the execution plan and document those changes in the documentation. And then, we will complete the execution of the workflow and document the results.

  • Workflow can mean many different things because, in cloud environments, we have the concept of workflows. Workflows in a cloud environment have to do with daily operations or processes within business applications. And then here, we also have the concept of executing a workflow, which can mean we are running the sequence of steps required to get the deployment done. Do not be confused by the diversity of uses of this term workflow within cloud environments. It can mean different things in different contexts.

Tools in cloud providers

Let us take a little bit of a tour of the three major cloud providers, AWS, GCP, and Azure, and we will see some of the different tools in different categories.
