End User Computing
Learn how to get secure, remote access to applications using End User Computing in AWS.
End User Computing (EUC) is a set of technologies and services that allow us to provide remote access to applications, desktops, and data required by any organization’s workforce. This allows them to work securely through any device from anywhere in the world.
Following are some of the main technologies that fall under the umbrella of EUC:
Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI): VDIs allow us to create and manage virtual desktop environments on a centralized server. This technology allows us to run operating systems in the cloud rather than on individual physical devices.
Desktop as a Service (DaaS): Desktop as a Service (DaaS) is a cloud-based service where virtual desktops are hosted and managed by cloud platforms such as AWS. Instead of companies having to manage their own on-premises infrastructure for virtual desktops, DaaS allows them to access these desktops over the internet through a subscription model.
Application as a Service: This technology allows users to access our Windows or Linux-based applications without getting into the hassle of rewriting code.
AWS provides us with the following EUC services:
Amazon WorkSpaces
Amazon WorkSpaces is a VDI service provided by AWS that allows us to provide cloud-based virtual desktops known as workspaces to our end users and eradicates the need to purchase and set up hardware or install complicated software. Through WorkSpaces, our end users can easily access our virtual desktops from multiple devices or web browsers.
