Introduction to Azure Security

Get an introduction to the basics of Azure security.

Azure security refers to the security tools and capabilities offered by Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform. As the system grows, there are chances that it can be attacked because of loopholes. Similarly, a cloud platform can also be attacked if it grows.

For an on-premise environment, we have to manage all the security-related concerns like access control, physical security, network security, data protection, compliance, and so on. However, as we move to the cloud, it follows a shared security responsibility model. Therefore, security is now a joint effort between Azure and the customers, and both have equal responsibilities. Azure offers us several tools that help us secure our environment from intervention.

In different cloud service models, the division of responsibilities also changes. In IaaS, Azure manages the physical security, and in PaaS, Azure takes over physical security and the operating system. In SaaS, Azure takes more responsibilities like physical security, operating systems, and applications.

Let’s different features of Azure security in this section, e.g., identity and access management (IAM), Azure Firewall, and multifactor authentication.
