Microsoft Cost Management and Azure Budgets
Learn about Azure Cost Management and Azure Budgets.
Azure Cost Management helps us avoid unnecessary costs. Cost Management specifies our usage with advanced analytics. Costs are based on the combination of the discounted prices impacted by the Azure reservations and Azure Hybrid Benefit. Collectively, the reports show internal and external costs for our Azure resources.
We can use the Azure Portal or various APIs to export automation to integrate cost data with external systems and processes. It also offers automated billing, and it gives us the option to get reports at scheduled intervals.
Cost Management use cases
Azure Cost Management is a free and effective solution offered by Azure that can be accessed through Azure Portal. It can give us detailed insights into our overall costs and utilization across all the Azure services we consume. The solution provides reports, and can also provide us with data about our organization’s integration and usage of other cloud providers.
It’s easy to deploy new resources in Azure, but this can lead to unnecessary costs for our workloads if not properly planned. Here are some of its features:
- It applies data analysis to our costs.
- It helps figure out opportunities that can optimize our spending.
- It sets spending thresholds.
- It contains options to pay the bill from there.
- It downloads cost and usage data in the form of reports.
Note: Azure Cost Management offers a Microsoft Power BI connector, with which we can export cost and usage data to Power BI and perform in-depth BI analysis.
