What is Resource hygiene?
Keeping an organized and neat environment inside an Azure cloud environment is known as “Azure resource hygiene.” It entails putting procedures and best practices into place to ensure that resources inside an Azure subscription are efficiently managed, watched over, and used correctly.
Resource hygiene reduces wasteful spending, enhances security, and maximizes performance.
Critical aspects of Azure resource hygiene include:
Resource cleanup: Regularly review and remove unused or obsolete resources. This includes virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, networking components, and other services no longer required.
Tagging and categorization: Use resource tags to label and categorize resources based on their purpose, owner, environment, or other relevant attributes. Proper tagging facilitates better organization, cost allocation, and reporting.
Resource naming conventions: Establish standardized naming conventions for resources to make it easier to identify their function and ownership. Consistent naming practices contribute to better resource management.
