What is an Azure IP address?
Azure IP addresses identify and communicate with resources such as virtual machines (VMs), load balancers, application gateways, and other Azure cloud services. Think of an Azure IP as an IP (Internet Protocol) address associated with resources deployed in the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
There are two types of IP addresses in Azure
Public
Private
Public IP Address: A globally unique IP address may be given to a resource to enable internet access. For resources that need both incoming and outgoing internet access, public IP addresses are frequently utilized.
Private IP Addresses: An IP address given to a resource inside an Azure virtual network (VNet). Private IP addresses are utilized for communication between resources in the same virtual network or between networks connected through a virtual private network (VPN) or ExpressRoute connections. These IP addresses cannot be accessed directly from the internet.
Azure offers a variety of versatile options for managing IP addresses, including the ability to issue static or dynamic IP numbers, link them to specific resources, set up load balancing, and put network security policies into place.
