What is a virtual machine?

An Azure Virtual Machine (VM) is a scalable computing resource that can host applications and workloads in the Azure cloud. VMs can be quickly and easily built from various pre-configured images, or we can use our unique ideas to create VMs. Once made, we may use an Azure VM just like any other computer, but with the added benefit of quickly scaling up or down as needed and accessing and administering the VM remotely from anywhere with an internet connection.
