Lean Product Management

Pivoting is a structured correction of the course to test a new fundamental hypothesis about the product, the business model, or the growth engine. This is not about changes in the interface or changes to some specific functionality.

# Types of Pivot

1. **Zoom-in:** What was previously considered a single feature in a product becomes the whole product.
2. **Zoom-out:** What was previously considered the whole product becomes a single feature of a much larger product.
3. **Customer Segment:** A change in the customer segment you are targeting.
4. **Customer Need:** A change in the problem or need addressed by the product for a given customer segment.
5. **Platform:** Changes from application to platform and vice versa.
6. **Business Architecture:** Switching from B2B to B2C or vice versa. 
7. **Value Capture:** The monetization or revenue model.
8. **Engine of Growth:** Changing your engine of growth (sticky, viral, and paid).
9. **Channel:** Changes input the mechanism by which a company reaches their customers.
10. **Technology:** When new technology can provide superior benefits or performance.
